Screening
Functional Movement Screening
‘Improve how you move’
Most sport requires the ability to move in multi-directions as well as unidirectional meaning no joint/muscle moves in isolation.
It is the connection of these elements working in a synchronised/symmetrical way that allows an athlete to move efficient.
Any breakdown in an athlete’s ability to move efficiently will result in a decrease in performance, or at least not performing to their optimum.
These breakdowns can be:
- Poor Muscle Flexibility
- Weak core muscles
- Left/Right sided imbalances
- Previous injuries i.e. old ACI injury
- Poor Functional mobility i.e. Poor squat technique
At The Newry Clinic we have developed a screening process to identify global and local ‘WEAK’ points and then administer a program of exercise to address these.
Along with an appropriate strength and conditioning program and sport specific skills training significant Athletic development can be achieved.
